Exporting packages to Microsoft Intune format

Starting with version 2.0, the Packaging PowerBench supports exporting packages to the Microsoft Intune format. This allows you to use identical packages for distribution via your on-premises software management tool as well as via the cloud-based solution Microsoft Intune.

Open the package you want to export and click the "Export Package" button on the ribbon bar in the "Tasks" tab or select the menu item of the same name in the backstage view, which you can access via the "File" tab.

  • You will be welcomed by the Export Wizard, which will offer you the available export options. Until PPB version 4.0, only the Intune option is available for you to choose from here. Click on the corresponding button.

  • If the package to be exported has more than one revision, you must first select the revision to be exported.

  • The wizard will suggest a name for you which will be used to publish the package in Intune later. You can also specify the directoryin which the generated .intunewin file will be stored and the destination file name. The file name is suggested automatically from the package name. If the wizard detects that a file with the same name already exists in the target directory, the "Overwrite" checkbox will be available. You also have the option of having the export directory opened automatically in Explorer after the export is complete.

Note: You can configure the suggested export directory in the Options under Package settings > Default export path.

  • On the next page of the wizard you will see a summary of the settings you have made and you can start the actual export by pressing the "Finish" button.

  • After completing the action, the directory with the created export file opens - if activated in the previous step - which you can now publish to Microsoft Intune.
